The cognitive domain of man's psychology does not require any motives for its development. Its development commences with out any motives. It is fact the ability to remember thing and to solve the problems. Books can be a guide to increase this domain but it has to develop. Until there is some mental disability in a person.

To know how peoples minds work and how they come to their conclusions.  How they think, reason, remember and learn.  If you can work out, for example, how i person remembers and learns information, this could make learning new skills or languages much easier.  It may also be beneficial in people with age related illnesses, helping them to recognise objects.
