Your RAM is your volatile memory....when you turn off your machine it goes away.
Unlike you BIOS which is NVRAM (non-volatile RAM) which is persistent even after the power is turned off....it loads every time you turn your computer on.

Hi Volatile Memory is simply the RAM (Random Access Memory) that your computer uses when it's running. But when the power is turned off, the memory is also turned off, and the information stored in RAM is erased. That is directly oppisite of NON-VOLATILE memory, it is memory like your Hard Drive where information is stored and is still there when you turn your computer back on. Hope this helps.
