Like my boss ordered me to bake 90 pastries for her personal party. I have not done any professional course for this.........

Sounds like your boss is abusing his or her power.

Sometimes it is just great leadership and delegating because maybe your boss has tremedous faith in you and knows that you will get this done, one way or another.  Of course the second choice of options is that your boss is clueless and is just pushing off on you what she can't do herself.  This is a breach of boundaries between work responsibilities and your private life.  You should ask her how this comes under your job description?  Tell her that you are flattered if it is a personal request but you are not sure this is something you have the ability to accomplish are the time available to do it.

I was a unit charge nurse at a local nursing home, and I tried to never ask a nurses aid to do anything I would not do  myself.  It is common courtesy I think to do that,  Maybe your boss cannot do the job as well as you, who knows? But if you do not have the right training then I cannot figure out what the deal is unless it is laziness!

Was your boss paying you for your time and we're you hired to do this type of work.....then no problem..if she ordered and it was not part of your job  then i would have a problem and tell her to take a flying leap in so many nicer words but that is me...now if it was part of your job and you had never done this big of a job then i would say she is testing you or seeing if your ready for bigger and better jobs with hopefully more responsibility and more pay...so it depends on what she had intended this to be ...i would say to ask her straight forward what was up with sticking you with such a big job on short notice and see how she explains it to you...try to be nice..you never know what God has planned for you....you might have your own shop someday ...and need to know some of this stuff and how to handle it...

I had a boss like that, and to be honest it is usually because they can't do it themselves or are to lazy to try. Take it as a challenge and prove it can be done.

The boss could be delegating this job to you because he thinks you are up to the job. Possibly he is testing you to see if you will do something out of your job description without complaining.

They want you to do the work. They do not want to do it. Cooking might not be a good quality for her. Or maybe she does not like cooking. If it does not involve your job, and she told you to do it (not asked), tell her it is not your job. Are you going to the party? Maybe, everyone is helping out. Talk to her. Maybe offer to bake some, and she could bake some, and some other people could bake some.

The blunt answer is:  because the boss can. Off the cuff, when a boss asks her staff to do something, it is because of the principle of delegation.  In this case, I would assume the work she assigned to you is part of your job but you do not have the training for it.  If it is the case, let her know before it is too late. Once you know how to do something and you have done it several times, it's gonna be a piece of cake.

Hmm, this question is too hard for me to answer; I'll go get someone else to do it.

          :)

Whilst your assigned job might be outside your area of expertise, sometimes challenges like these can show other people what you're made of.

          I hope it goes well!
