How Old Do You Have To Be Before You Can Get Married?

Answer Question

I was 21 when I got married.  If I can do it over then I would have waited till I'm 26 or 27.  I was still a full time student when I got married and its not so easy to study and be married at the same time but I've done it

In the UK and the British Crown dependencies which include Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man, the minimum, legal age for marriage is 16.

In England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Guernsey and the Isle of Man if you are under 18 you need the written consent of your parents, or legal guardians. If you live in Jersey, your parents' consent is required if you are under 20.Parents resident in Jersey must give their consent in person. In Guernsey, if your parents live in the Island, they must also give their consent in person.
In Scotland the minimum age for marriage is 16 and no parental consent is required for under 18 year olds
If written consent is required, it usually has to be given on a consent form provided by the registrar.

If parental consent is required and parents, or guardians, are not resident in the United Kingdom at the time of the marriage, their signatures to the consent should be properly witnessed by a Commissioner for Oaths, a Consular Officer or a notary member of the public such as a lawyer, police office, And Justice of the Peace etc. Check this in advance of any marriage.

If you are in Arkansas, the age is 16 with parental consent and signatures. Check the Internet for information about the minimal age to get married in your region.

13 almost 14. Oh I didn't mistype it, yeah it's beginning of a teenager. No it wasn't a force marriage or an arrangement. And NO I wouldn't do it all over again and will not allow my children to do it either. But you didn't mentioned if you're married or not or how old were you when you got married?

With parental concent I believe it is 14-15 in Virginia and a few other states, but in NY it is 16. With out concent you must be 18 years old. However, many times a pastor/priest or person conducting the wedding ceremony will not perform it on anyone under 18. The law varies from state to state and it also depends on the person who is to wed the couple. For example, my priest will not marry anyone under the age of 22.

I was 22 when I married my husband and my mom hated it because she thought I was too young.  My husband and I have been happily married ten years and we have kind of grown up together.
