Born in Gosforth, Tyne and Wear in August nineteen seventy, Alan Shearer made his full debut as a professional footballer in nineteen eighty eight for South coast side Southamptonn against Arsenal as a seventeen year old.

Incredibly he scored a hat trick on his first start, propelling him into the media spotlight, a position he remained in for his entire career.  Shearer remained at Southampton for four years, playing in in hundred and eighteen league games for the Saints, scoring twenty three league goals.

In nineteen ninety two Shearer headed North and joined Kenny Dalglish at Blackburn Rovers; turning down Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United in favour of joining his boyhood idol Dalglish at Blackburn.

In four years at Rovers, Shearer, under the guidance of Dalglish and bank rolled by the money of the late Jack Walker, led Blackburn to the Premier league title, before returning home to Newcastle United in nineteen ninety six, snubbing Man United for a second time in the process.
