Who Is The First Robot Appeared On Tv Or Movie?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The first movie robot (and this was long before TV) was 'Maria' in a German black and white silent film called 'Metropolis' that was made in 1926 by director Fritz Lang. There's a pretty good chance that if you google for images of it, you will recognize the robot, even thought you most likely won't have seen the film. Images of Maria (and even a mass-produced sculpture) are frequently access on television shows about robots and intelligent computers, as well as online when fans of robots want to put up an iconic image.

I hope that helps, and you have a great day!

And now I have to correct myself, and hope I'm right this time... (^_^) Shortly after leaving this answer, I found that there is a film in which Harry Houdini fights a 'robot' called 'The Master Mystery' and it was made in 1920, which would predate 'Metropolis' by a full 6 years.

Oh well, can't get 'em all right the first time... Heh...
