What Is Canned Spam?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

By canned spam I suppose you are referring to the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, which was inducted into law by President Bush on December 16th, 2003.

This law necessitates the FTC to revert back to the congress inside 24 months of the effective of the act. It also needs the FTC to broadcast rules to protect customers from surplus mobile service marketable messages. The CAN-SPAM explains spam as "any electronic mail message the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service".

The FTC has till date not clarified the actual meaning of "primary purpose", and has already postponed rule-making for this terminology.

If an individual opt out, a correspondent has ten days to stop sending spam mails but are not required to eradicate the address.
