    External hard drive is used for storing enormous amount of data and information. The drive is attached externally to the computer and is available in market in various capacities. The device is commonly known as secondary storage device and is the same as any hard disk drive. The internal structure and functioning of external hard drives are similar to the normal hard drives. The difference only lies in portability and the way the external hard drives are inserted to the computer.
