Artemus Gates was the name of an American businessman who also served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Air in the World War II. He was, at different points in his life, President of organizations such as the New York Trust Company, Union Pacific, TIME as well as Boeing.

Artemus Gates graduated from Yale University in the year 1918. He was a part of the Skull and Bones, which was a well known secret society in the University. He was also the member of the Yale Unit which was formed during the World War I in the Naval Reserve Flying Corps.

Artemus Ward was the pen name for American humour writer Charles Farrar Browne. He was famously the favourite author of American President Abraham Lincoln. He is also believed to have influenced Mark Twain.

 Which Artemus are you thinking about? In the Japanese, anime cartoon Sailor Moon there is a character named Artemis. One of two cats, the other is named Luna which we know refers to the moon. I think that Artemis is somehow connected to the Greek mythology Artemis, the daughter of Leto and Zeus, and the twin of Apollo. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, and fertility (she became a goddess of fertility and childbirth mainly in cities). She was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified with Selene (goddess of the moon). Artemis was one of the Olympians and a virgin goddess. One of the cats in Sailor Moon also has the crescent of the moon above her forehead.
