How Long Does It Take A Repo Man To Get Your Car?

This depends on the state where you are living as it will vary from one to the other. It is best to check the rules in your area as the amount of time you will have before a repo man gets your car will depend on your own individual circumstances. For example, for all those living in the state of California, check out the general guidelines and rules here:

www.bsis.ca.gov/customer_service/faqs/repo.shtml
It will also depend on the conditions that have been set from your borrower as these will also vary. You may have been given a specific set of rules and regulations regarding your conditions of borrowing which may be different from the guidelines your friend has received from another credit provider or bank.

The general consensus on internet forums and websites seems to be about three or four days since you missed your last payment. However, there are some people who claim in Texas, your car can be towed away by a repo man the day after you miss a payment.

The best way of getting an exact answer to this question and prevent your car from being towed away is by keeping in regular contact with your credit provider. Ask them questions at the time of taking out a loan or buying a car on credit and make sure you are aware of the consequences if you are unable to keep up with your repayments.

If an individual finds themselves in a situation where they are unable to make a repayment, the best way of dealing with this is by getting in touch with the credit provider first to explain the circumstances. There may be a chance of resolving the situation by setting up a payment plan for example. Repossession should always be a final option and can be avoided by being honest with your credit provider.

My guess would be 3 or more payments missed will cause a repo. Yes, they will take it with all of your stuff inside; why should they care. I have a couple of friends/family members that have had repo's, they were all called and informed, and asked where the tow truck driver could pick the vehicle up. Talk a bout giving a heads up!

I missed one payment by 4 days, I made the payment a few days late, I was stupid and didnt call them the first day but I knew I could make it a few days later. So I called, made the payment. Then that very night my truck was gone. No warning or anything, and I even caught my payments up. Then I was told in order to get any of my stuff out of my truck I had to pay all storage fees, started out about 400 for the first day and went up a couple hundred every day thereafter. So even if you miss just 1 payment, and even catch up they can still take it that day.

I know what you mean, I had receipts for my payments, the bank decided I didnt have enough insurance on the car, so they took 1.5 payments to pay for insurance THEY placed on my car, sent a letter to my ex husbands address so I didnt know. I was visiting my boyfreind 1 weekend and BAM woke up sunday morning and the car was gone, I had made all payments! Thats a scam if you ask me. Monday I contacted the state banking commission and after 3 weeks and buttloads of fees, they had to give it back!.

AND...they charged me 50. To get my personal belongings(clothes atc) out of it even though I had receipts and could prove they had wrongfully taken it. I later discovered that a bunch of CD's were taken out of it as well. Now, luckily I have an off premisis Barn I park the car in at all times just incase they want to play games again. I HAVE filed a complaint against this company, because I had to pay for 3 weeks of a rental car and those storage fees, then i had to drive 2 hours away to get it!

How about storage facilities, If I lock it up till I get the money, can they find it?  And can they break into my storage to get it?

Cars are not like houses. They could easily repossessed the car if you don't pay and it depends on your credit history. They are afraid if they see your history to have a colorful scenario about loan, to lose more money on you.

In Texas, if you are one day late, you can be repo'd. If you are current and the lender feels that you are unable or unwilling to make your next payment - repo. If you drop insurance - repo. If you hide the car - state jail felony. Make your payments or at the least talk with your lender. If you make an effort before you become past due, it will only help your cause and may avoid a repossession.
I have repo'd 100's of cars and the people that are cool with the repoman usually get their car back. Make it difficult and welcome to the world of 25% interest on your next one.

You are a dick, man! I don't usually post on these things but sorry, repo guy, you suck! People are haveing tough times and you make it worse if you take their transportation away to and from work. I am late on my payments because i was out of work after having surgery. I am sitting here petrified that they will take my truck in the middle of the night and i am only one payment late. They have been calling my house nonstop and my payment is, as of today, one week late! Cars are overpriced!

Like the interiors, the exterior also plays an
important role. A fresh coat of paint, dents and bruises well taken care of and
a rust free body is surely going to make an impact. Various car functions like
the AC functions, the central-locking system, the power windows, Lights,
indicators, steering, door-locks, and the braking abilities – all of these
highly influence the price while you sell your car.

You can miss up to four payments, sometimes more. The company will call you and call you to set up a payment in full. If you fail to do so, they will ask you were they can pick the vehicle up, you can stall this process if you keep giving them a false address (if you live on a reservation, "they" cannot come to get your vehicle without going threw the tribal courts first, which is quit a while. BUT, they now hire another tribal member to go to your house to get your car, providing they know where you live, and they can repo your car for the company and take it off the reservation). Do not be fooled as "they" will also lie to you and offer to set up payments and send someone to your house to do an inspection and have you sign a new contract. They are lying to you! Just to get a physical address.

I loaned a person money and they have not paid me back. My contract says if she does not pay I can take the car within 90 days of non payment. It has been 5 months. Can I hire a repo man or do I need to go through the courts.

Sad but true. They usually let you know that they are coming but not really when. They will let you get your stuff out as it is illegal for them to take that, as long as you are cooperative with them.

First of all, It depends on the bank, Second, Hell yes I'll take your stuff and make you pay to get it back, 3rd, this reservation crap is just that, I go onto em all the time. I will get your car eventually, and it is a FELONY to keep a repo man from accessing your car in California, same for whoever hides it for you. Welcome to hell, Make your payments.

I 'm just gonna beat your ass for your rude post. I'm going to purposely not pay my car payment, fill my car with dog poo, and wait for you to come get it. After your beating you can keep the poo and don't expect me to pay for it. It's all yours. Welcome my fist in your big mouth.
