What Is Suicide?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Suicide is a method of taking ones own life before its time.
It comes from the Latin Sui Caedere, to kill oneself.

There are many methods, including leaping from tall buildings and bridges, taking pills, slitting the wrists and hanging.  All of these are extremely painful and are not quick.

When someone has decided to kill themselves, they may do it for a number of reasons.  They can have meticulously planned out each aspect or they may simply fantasise about 'ending it all'.

The saddest part is that they will never know the pain that they will leave behind, even if they think that they are saving themselves or their family pain in the long run, the family, friends and other kin and kind will always be damaged by this very selfish action.

Traditional religious beliefs state that suicides may not be buried on hallowed ground.

In many countries, suicide is still illegal.
