Answer Question

Food digestion is a complex process that involves the brain, the mouth, the food pipe, the stomach, various acids and enzymes and the intestines. When brain is aware that you are about to consume food it sends messages to the intestines that it will soon have a job to do. This prepares the intestinal tract for the food that is going to come its way.

The digestive process is quickened and it is also smoother when you chew your food properly to break it down into smaller lots. As you chew and break up the fibers in the food, your saliva will release enzymes to make the food ready for the enzymes in the stomach. Saliva also plays the role of a natural lubricator, water is an artificial lubricator. The lubricating action is required for the food to travel to the stomach via the food pipe better known as the esophagus. The stomach will mix the food properly by expanding and contracting it muscles. The length of time taken to digest food will depend on the type of food that is being consumed. If a person is sick then his system could take a longer time to digest the food.

It takes about 75 hours, which is about 2-3 days at the max but it may change by the different types of food it digest. Some takes longer to digest while others are shorter to digest
