Is Dog Distemper/upper Resp. Contagious To Humans?

We had a puppy recently that the vets said had a severe upper resp. Infection or distemper. He was diagnosed with distemper and we had to put him down. My 2 year old now has a upper resp. Infection, can this be connected in any way?

Canine distemper is NOT Zoonotic... The virus causes no disease in humans... It is highly contagious to other canines, but not to humans.

Thank you, we were just sitting there last night and of course you get talking about things, and we thought "I wonder". We had asked the vet and she said no humans could not get it, but the more I looked and listened to my daughter's cough the more I thought about it.

Dear dll, I must apologize for my answer on distemper. Sometimes I am in too much of a hurry. I confused Rabies and distemper. I apologize to all!

I don't believe it is contagious, but if an animal with distemper bites you, you are susceptible!
