I think that depends on a social structure of a demographic, therefore, it can be an extremely variable answer. In more laid-back places, such as Santa Cruz, I wouldn't be surprised if every once in a while 80-year-olds got their tongues pierced.

Well my mom is 36 and she has one. I'm sure you could have one at any age just as long as it looks good on you :)
