You might be having radial nerve palsy or radial nerve dysfunction. This problem can occur when radial nerve is damaged or trapped due to trauma, nerve compression due to injury to the nearby structures and prolonged pressure on the nerve. This dysfunction can affect radial surface of thumb side, fingers near to thumb like 2nd and 3rd fingers, and hand or forearm. Its symptoms are pain, difficulties in extending arm, elbow and wrist, numbness, tingling and abnormal sensations. Treatment depends upon underlying cause. Sometimes, no treatment is required. Pain is controlled by non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. Use of corticosteroids and physiotherapy is also recommended.
