    Here a colt is a baby or a foal. A stallion is a stud horse. A gelding is one who has been "fixed".

      A male horse over the age of 3 that is not "fixed" is called a stallion. If he is fixed, he's called a gelding. If he is still a foal he is called a colt, even though he is un-neutered.

        A male unaltered horse is a Stallion. A altered male horse is a Gelding. Any male horse under age 4 is a Colt (altered or not)
