The structure of the English Premier League is set out with European places and relegation places.

As things currently stand the top 4 teams in the English Premier League qualify for the Champions League (Europe). This is the biggest cup competition for teams playing in Europe.

Teams that finish 5th and 6th in the English Premier League will also qualify to compete in Europe the following season in a tournament called the 'UEFA CUP' - less standard then the Champions League.

Currently the teams that finish in the bottom 3 of the English Premier League will be relegated to the league below called the 'Championship'. This is so that they can make way for the teams coming up from the Championship the following season.

The English Premier League is made up of 24 teams playing each other once at home and once away. So there are 46 games to play for the whole season.

There are 20 teams in the Barclay English Premier League. The top 4 teams after the end of every season automatically enter the UEFA Champions League. The 5th and 6th team enter the UEFA Cup. The last three teams are relegated. Each season, 3 top teams from the Coca-Cola Championship take place of the 3 relegated teams.
