    Child Is 2 Yrs Old. Complaining Of Back Pain, Vomiting For 3 Days But Has Not In At Least 2, Eyes Are Droopy, And Discharging. Fever Of 99.8. What Do You Think?

    My family is very worried about this. They are on their way to the hospital as we speak but would like some info on the symptoms of this disease. (meningitis)

    The meningitis is the inflammation of meninges which surrounds brain and spinal cord. This can be bacterial or viral. Mostly it is viral and affect children.       Now that you have the information in the above answer, Let me give advice.  You never, never, let a child vomit for three days. Loss of electrolytes can just be the beginning of what could be a life long problem.  You never know if they have contracted a contagious disease that may spread to the whole family. Dehydration is almost assured.  When a child is involved, don't do the guessing and waiting game please.
      I hope he returns home with a minor diagnosis and feels better soon. Please let us know.
