Of course ...for any marriage to be successful partners need to comprehend each other almost in all way. And this can be easy when you marry after having long time friendship with your partner.

I truly believe your partner should be one of your best friends.  From personal experience I know that getting to know someone before you share your life with them on an intimate level is very important.  The guy I am with now, we didn't hardly know each other when we got together.  Now i really wish we had gotten to know each other.  There are many things about us that clash, such as our morals, the way we treat people, and our beliefs.  And i think that because of this, our relationship is going to end soon.  It is very sad because i do care about him and it makes the situation very hard.  So take it from someone who has lived this one.  Get to know someone, and make sure you are at least compatible as friends first before making a leap into a relationship.

Amen to what Sweetcorn said.  I've been through 2 divorces.  The relationship I'm in now has lasted for 15 yrs and is based on friendship, compatibility, and love.  Also in age we are not far apart.  We share the love of music and most of our ideas agree with each other.  I say, look for a friend first.
