An Agronomist is a person who is basically a scientist. However, he/she specialized in the field of Agronomy. Agronomy is the branch of science that deals with utilization of plants for food, fuel, feed and fiber. Their basic job is to find ways of application of agronomy to the benefit of the society as a whole.
