What Is The Tower Of Babel?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The tower of Babel is mentioned in Genesis Chapter 11 of the Bible. It was this tower that was built in order to believe that it would reach the heavens by unified humankind. It is also stated that God himself choose to break down the tower so that such beliefs would not exist and that they would be no other such kind of future efforts. However, this part is not mentioned in the bible but is stated in the Book of Jubilees. An interpretive version of the story explains the tower's devastation in conditions of humankind's shortage in contrast to God: inside a Judeo-Christian structure, humankind is measured to be an intrinsically defective creation reliant on an ideal being for its survival, and thus the building of the tower is a potentially hubristic act of disobedience towards the God who formed them.
