Can Asphalt Shingles Be Installed Over Wood Shakes,and What Is The Proper Method?
I'm putting new shingles on my house ,and there is one layer of asphalt shingles over wood shakes,can I apply one more layer over them,or do I have to remove one or both exsiting?

I would call the manufacturer of the shingles you are about to apply, and make sure the warranty is good. In doing so, you may answer your question. As a carpenter, I have seen 3 layers of asphalt over shakes, which I don't think is legal. Call your local building inspector to remove all doubt. GL
