I know from experience the temptation to want to make a deadbeat parent "pay," one way or another but I'm not sure that public shame is a deterrent...not in this day and age. Face it, people who don't (as opposed to people who at least try to) pay child support probably don't have much of a sense of shame to begin. They are usually somewhat sociopathic and may even be flattered by the '15 seconds of shame.' My Space and You Tube are making millions off that mentality. As a taxpayer, I would rather see the money go into 'boots on the ground' enforcement, or increased assistance programs. The last thing you want to do to a deadbeat is to keep him/her from having a job and you can bet that potential employers will be checking this site as part of the hiring process.

It seems that there is in fact going to be backing from the government for a new website which basically names and shames parents who do not pay their child support. The move is taking place with the aim of forcing parents into paying what they should be paying. Not many people will want to be named and shamed, though there is speculation as to how effective the website will actually be. It will certainly help all of the single parents out there who are trying to struggle on alone.

Similar websites have been done for other causes and they seem to have worked so it does seem like a positive move to sort out the problem. There are so many parents who do not pay what they owe and that has taken a huge strain on the government with the current child support being in a bit of a mess.
