There are many things that can affect a person so badly that they develop an eating disorder. Past events do tend to be a leading factor in a person's condition and if something traumatic has happened, then that could be a leading cause of the person's problem.
It is usually a fear of loss of control that sparks many eating disorders such as anorexia. When something traumatic happens which causes the sufferer to lose control of their life it can really affect the way they live in the future. Many eating disorder sufferers say that the loss of control they felt within their lives causes them to control whatever they can, and usually that is their food.
However, it doesn't always have to be a traumatic past event, it could be something fairly recent or for young girls it could be the fear of not being slim enough. There seems to be a certain body image these days of how girls should be and the fear of not meeting that criteria often leads to girls starving themselves or feeling guilty for eating and so they bring it back up afterwards (bulimia).

Possible cause of eating disorder is major life transition, family problems, social problems, traumatic events, or to sum it up emotional eating. Why emotional eating because you tend to eat more when you are emotional. It's like your building up some masses in your body when you are emotionally bound. Try think to eat normal and not bound to be emotional or something like controlling your senses when you eat. One way to treat Eating disorders is by EFT why. Because EFT's long term successes are due to its ability to address an
important cause of eating disorders ... Namely ... The need to
"tranquilize" anxiety caused by unresolved emotional issues. Until
one's underlying anger, fear, guilt, trauma, etc. Are dissipated, the
eating disorder may remain. EFT training is designed to reduce or collapse these
issues (that is what it does best) and, properly applied, the need to
tranquilize disappears. And with it eating disorders tend to fade.
