If you are working, then you could save up some money so that you have just enough to make a few changes. A house can get very boring if it hasn't been decorated for years.
Try changing your furniture around. Put your television in a different place. Move other items arounds. If you have more than one bedroom, try switching rooms for a little while.
If you are in a regular job, then you should be making enough money to make some small changes. It shouldn't be too expensive to just add a different coat of paint to a room or maybe purchase a small piece of furniture.
If you are looking for major changes, then try saving up your money. If you just want to make a small change, then purchase a few reasonably priced items each week, and your home will gradually begin to look a little different.
If you really don't want to spend any money then just move your furniture around. It's amazing how different a room can look when you change the furniture around!

Why not think about spending a very small amount on something like candles or an extra coloured throw or two?
All you have to do is add a bit of interest to what ever you've got and add a splash of colour here and there and rooms can be transformed.
It doesn't cost very much to buy a cheap, large tin of paint so perhaps you could manage to get a big tin in the January sales and re-paint a few surfaces . I think some nice candles, well arranged can look very attractive. Do you have an bedspreads that couls act as throws drape a chair?
Are you good at sewing?
You could get some pieces of material and run up a few new cushion covers, This could be done with material you already have from clothes you no longer wear. Have a major re-assesment of everything you have in your home and ask yourself where it would look nice if the whole house was re-arranged. Nothing cheers up as much as fresh walls, a few interesting pieces and a splash of new colour here and there.
Have you thought of making your own stensils and adding a bit of paint - you might create a whole new interior design look for next to nothing.

Go to a second hand shop and purchase some items that you think would look great in your home. You don't have to spend heaps of money when you can get something that looks better for a lot less money. Good luck!
