It was after the end of the French and Indian war, which was won by Britain in 1759 that the French and English nations sought to establish peace between themselves so as to avoid any further violence and tension. This agreement of peace was formally sealed with a treaty called the Treaty of Paris. In accordance with the treaty, France had lost all its land possessions in the French and Indian war except for four small islands.

Not only that but Spain who was France's ally in the French and Indian war had also given Florida to Great Britain. Moreover the Louisiana state was segmented at the mouth of the Mississippi River where the eastern part of the land was given to Great Britain while the western region of the territory was granted to Spain. It was not just the Ohio valley that the British gained during the French and Indian war. In addition to that, the British also gained possession of Canada and all of the land in close vicinity to the Atlantic coast.
