Bull Whip effect or Whiplash effect is a phenomenon in business. It pertains to forecast driven distribution channels. Businesses forecast demand on statistics which are not perfectly accurate. Thus each supply chain member keeps some safety stock. The bull whip effect is that the rise in demand will make the downstream participants to increase their orders and fall in demand would make them stop their orders.
