What Do Managers Do?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Managers are basically appointed leaders. But they are different from leaders in that they exert power owing to their positional state, while leaders exercise control owing to their influential abilities.

A manager, in simple words, manages. Managing may include activities like: planning, which is determining aims and objectives, and how to get them. Then comes organizing, which involves prioritising your activities so as to achieve your goals. This is followed by leading, motivating your team to work towards specific targets. Co-ordinating between units to ensure smooth functioning is also important. Finally, a manager should have control over all activities and should be the one who gives direction and focus to the team.
