    Indian Nuclear Programme started with the efforts of with eminent leaders like Indira Gandhi for a major breakthrough in science and technology. Even when Indira Gandhi came in power, she sent her delegates at UK to obtain security guarantee. The scientist made preparation for testing a device and waiting for a go ahead from Indira Gandhi and finally gave them a nod in 1972. She used her own yardstick to take a decision whether to go for a test or not. Indira Gandhi further stopped her testing due to negative international reactions after Pokhran-I. It was again in 1983, when Indira gave permission to weaponization. India's Nucluear Weapons programme was formed in order to strengthen the country's power. Indira Gandhi's political instincts made her play a conspicuous role in India's Nuclear Weapon's Programme.
