Woodstock Music and Art Fair 1969 was actually a Rock Music Concert. It was organised in Woodstock, a place close to New York City. Many Hippies attended the fest.

The fest commenced on August the Th, a Friday, around 5.07 PM. Uninterrupted it extended up to mid morning of August 18th, the Monday.

The fair in its initial period became identified with the counterculture trend that portrayed the 1960 Hippie culture in America. The Hippie philosophy was to abstain from materialism and authority, disapprove Vietnam War, and show compliance to civil right movements as seen from their dress sense as well as their attitudes toward issues like use of drugs and relationships.
The list of performing artist read like,' Who is Who', in the world of music. Many upcoming artists lapped up the opportunity for easy fame.

All the four organisers were very young among whom the eldest was John Robert, 26 who also financed the program while the other members were Joel Rosenman, Artie Cornfield and Michael Lang.
