Are The Businesses That Say "accredited" Or "certified" Necessary For A Home Staging Business? Or Are They Using These Buzz Words To Make Money?

I am interested in going into the field, but many google responses for info were from companies that, for a substantial fee, had training programs lasting many days and you got a certificate (which I can buy at Office Max) and one is named "accredited", but by whom? Is there an overseeing organization or are these folks just pull the wool over your eyes. To clarify, training is okay, but the fancy accreditation is questionable. Yes?

You are pretty sharp - yes often businesses used "accredited" and "certified" to add credibility to their advertisements. Often these "certifications" are the result of nothing more than answering a few simple questions and mailing in a fee. There are some fields where certification are real e.g. Pesticide applicators, electricians, and plumbers have real certifications but aside from these skilled trades you usually don't need any accreditations or certification. Check and see if your community requires a license for the type of business you are entering.

Aren't these companies being fraudulent? And why don't the fields that truly require certification pressure the others to stop this type of advertising. Not to mention to people who fall into this trap of thinking they are getting some special credibility when in reality they are being taken.
