This Question Is Answered:
How Do You Keep Backyard Chickens From Clucking For 20-30 Minutes In The Early Am? There Is A Coop But The Chickens Are Not Kept In The Coop Only In An Open Pen.
My neighbors have 4 chickens that are kept in a pen in their backyard on a small town lot. The Chickens cluck several times at a day's beginning often around 6am for 10 to 30 minutes at a stretch. The chickens are loud enough to wake us even with windows closed. Neighbors have said the chickens only cluck when laying eggs. Does it take 30 minutes for egg laying? How can chickens be contained so they remain quiet and don't disturb neighbors?

Are the chickens in a coop or are they really 'free range'?Mine are in a coop and stay quiet until their coop is opened and they go into their pen when they make gentle clucking sounds, unless I oversleep when they do 'kick off' they want their breakfast.Martin
