    The noun burdock basically means a number of upright biennial herbs of moderate Eurasia, which comprises of stout taproots and producing burs. Burdock is basically a group of biennial thistles that belong to the Genus of Arctium, and the family of Asteraceae. The very well known common Burdock is found plenty as a wild plant in areas like North America, Europe and Asia. It is also mainly cultivated in area like Japan. It's significant to decide firm, young burdock, rather no more than 1 inch in diameter; they will be approximately 18 inches long.

    The flowers are generally purple in colour, are followed by roundish many-seeded burs. In Japan it is better known as gobo and is also used as a medicine.
