How Do You Report Welfare Fraud In New York City?

Answer Question

5 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Welfare fraud pertains to various types of misuse of state welfare systems by restricting information or giving fake or imprecise information. This can be done in small measures or in big organised criminal outfits. One of the examples of welfare fraud is to collect the benefit of someone who is not actually deserves to earn these privileges.

The Welfare fraud imposes a burden on tax payers by escalating the cost of programs.  Welfare fraud is committed when someone:
Deliberately receives benefits for children not existing in the household
Purposely do not report a change in the household composition, resources or income that influences the benefit eligibility
Deliberately reports that the parent is absent from the household.
Deliberately gets benefits from two or more jurisdiction at one time.

To register the complaint, call up the Human Resources Administration at
    (212) 274-5030. Make sure that you are specific and factual with the nature of your reporting.

I would also like to report welfare fraud (in another state) the child getting full welfare benefits is not living in the home but  I wonder would this be difficult to prove? How is the investigation conducted? The person in question my loser neighbor who constantly lies, I am worried that she would just be able to lie her way out of it. Is it still worth reporting?

I have the same concern with someone that i know my only fear is that if i do report it that the child will be taken out of the only home he has ever known and end up living with a parent who only uses him as a form of income and has no maternal instincts what so ever. I would also like to add that she has reported that the father is not around so the state will be coming after him for child support even though its his parents that are raising the child!!!

My ex-wife who I have two children with recently went on welfare. Child suport payments come straight out of my pay. She has been married for several years to someone who earns over 50,000 a year. Is this legal??
