What Causes Small Pin Holes In Grout After It Is Applied?

I have installed ceramic tile in my kitchen as a backsplash and after it was grouted I have noticed small pin holes in some of the grout when it dried? I also had a hard time removing the excess grout from tiles when grouting. How long should you let the grout set before trying to remove the excess?

One should wait for at least 72 hours before removing the excess. Also, do not try to scrap it off, use a sand paper to sand it off so you have better control and you will get a smoother finish.

With regards to the pinholes- since it was done recently, it seems that there was air locked in, and as the air passed out of the sealing, you were left with pinholes.
