Star Topology is one of the most important types of network typologies. It has a central connector known as 'hub' with which network nodes/terminals are connected. If a terminal wants to send message to the other terminal, the message has to go through the central hub. The advantages associated with star topology are: 1)Star topology is easier to understand and easier to implement. 2) The routing time is quite lesser as compared to bus topology. 3)It is easier to connect and disconnect terminals/nodes from the network 4) If a computer malfunctions, it will not impact other terminals on the network. However potential drawback of star topology is that if the central hub malfunctions, whole network is collapsed.
