This is quite a question to be asked in an interview. I guess the interviewer would be attempting to assess your response to unexpected pressure. As well as your willingness to take on more than your job description may state. The reality is people do get ill, especially during the annual flu season. Therefore your question, How would you handle the position is a valid one.

My immediate reaction would be to ask the boss, if there would be a chance for help from other staff, not involved in the project. If, the response is "No" then I would need to ask for time to assess the possibility of completing the project myself. There are some projects, which one person can accomplish alone, however there are many others, which require assistance. After assessing the existing reality regarding the project, I would inform the boss, whether or not I could complete the project on time and alone. Or, if I could not complete the project on time and alone. I would deal with the bosses response at that time.

If, from the beginning the boss agreed to have other staff to help with the project, I would agree to work with them and complete the project on time. To me the final decision of what happens to the project rests with the boss. If, the boss decided not to provide others to take the place of the ill staff, then I would I would insist the project be held up. If, this is not agreeable I would be willing to leave, before I would work night and day to accomplish something alone just to please a boss. Doing the work of three people is not what I was hired to do.

Well, the question is about the crises management. When you deal in any project you might face many problems in a routine manner. But when two of the employees who handles the project fall sick and without them the project can't be succeed then what will one do.

There are certain ways for resolving this issue first is that you may hire some people who can help you in carrying that project. There must be some staff in the company as reserve that may be used for the place of sick employees.

You can contact with the HR or the project manager to arrange people for that specific task. Because you can not delay the project you have to give the final deliverable in specified time demanded by the customer. So you have to arrange more people to for this job done. If the matter is serious enough then you can involve directly your project Manager and discuss this issue with him. You have to complete this as soon as possible because in projects time is always limited. You have to deliver output in a specified period of time. You personally have to put more efforts if you hire new people for completion of that job you have to keep contact coordination with them you responsibility will increase.
