    Is Something Wrong With My Car's Transmission Or Is The Gear Shift Linkage Broken?

    My car - a mercury sables - suddenly came to a stop while the engine was still running perfectly. It did not respond with any movement when i shifted gear

    It depends. If the gear box is stiff it may be due to temperature changes. However if the above mentioned does not go with your situation, it may be car transmission problem.
