    1 Answer

What you need is a readers ticket for-

CARN or Core Archaeological Record Index.
This allows access to information from, Catalogues and indexes, Original documents
Ordnance Survey maps and Tithe maps.
Census returns and Parish Registers, also
Photograph collections and information from the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, CADW, Cambria Archaeology, CAPAT and the Gwynnedd Archaeology Trust, Glamorgan Gwent Archaeology Trust and the National Museums and Library of Wales.
www.rcahmw.org.uk will guide you to the information about CARN
You can apply for a CARN ticket at your local Archives or Records office but will need to take at least two forms of identification in order to get a ticket which allows access to records offices and related institutions nation-wide. You can access alot of information online and some archives are indexed on line. See the above website for more information on CARN.
