Can You Have A Wrist Fracture And Not Know It?

No, you will definitely know that your wrist is fractured. When you feel pain have problem in doing normal work then you should know that something is wrong. The fracture can be minor or severe depends upon the pain you are feeling. You fell 5 months ago. You should have taken X-ray. It will tell the complete story.

I disagree.  I had fractured my wrist and did not know it until several months later.  While I had some pain, it felt more like a sprain, but it just remained tender.  My wrist began healing on its own before it was ever xrayed.  I agree that if you are concerned, an xray is a good idea.

I thought I had sprained my wrist in a fall only to find I had fractured my elbow in two places.  Radial head, radial neck- runs from outside of elbow across top of forearm to inside of wrist.
If you sprained it badly, depending on your lifestyle, it can easily take up to a year to abate.  If you broke it, even hairline fractures tend to develop a visible knot ...

You wouldn't necessarily realise. I thought I'd simply sprained my wrist in a fall and it was 10 days later when the wrist was still significantly tender that I thought I'd get it x-rayed. Turns out it had been fractured all along and was already partially healed of its own accord. I could easily have gone much longer without getting it checked out as it wasn't particularly painful and I only went for the x-ray as an after thought.
