Although a largely British activity, fox hunting is not restricted to England, but is also practiced in Ireland, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and India, but its origins are most likely rooted in British influence. According to reports in 2000, at the time of the Burns Inquiry by the UK Government, Portugal and Italy had one fox hunting pack each.
Fox hunting is mostly regarded as a primarily British activity, which involves trained dogs pursuing the red fox, followed by hunters, usually on horseback, but at times on foot. A traditional equestrian activity, it has been widely criticized by animal welfare campaigners who have condemned it as a barbaric "blood sport". Most participants and proponents regard it as an integral part of rural English history, vital for conservation, and as a method of pest control. Hunting is also common in France.

The British shouldn't be hunting with dogs as this form of hunting in England and Wales is now banned and illegal.
Some traditions should not be maintained and I believe this is one of them.
The argument that foxes need to be controlled is based on inaccurate , biased evidence and used by the hunting fraternity to bolster their pro-hunting arguments.
It is very wrong to claim that most people who live in the countryside support hunting, they certainly do not. Hunting causes damage to land, property and can hurt other animals. Many farmers and landowners are against hunting.
In Ireland and the continent , unfortunately hunting is still legal and many British people go over to Ireland and Europe to hunt.
Scotland was ahead of England and Wales in it's ban.
Many hunts cover their illegal activities by claiming that they are drag- hunting and just happen to get the scent of a fox.
If anyone who cares for animals suspects that a hunt is acting illegally they should inform the police.

No. It is not just the Brits that fox hunt. In the United States there are many states that allow fox hunting. This ranges from trapping to using dogs. I have no idea what the socialist Europeans have taken away from their citizens. As for the statement that farmers and landowners are against hunting, I would love to see the data on that research. That is the propaganda often supported by anti-hunting advocates. Simple lies. Hunting damages land, property and can hurt other animals. Please tell me how. As if driving your car does not kill the butterflies, bugs and other insects.
