The edema is the swelling due to retention of water. The Athletes Foot does not cause edema. In Athletes Foot, pain and bleeding form the infected site is common. This cause a wound where bacteria can cause infection. Due to this infection inflammation can occur causing swelling. So, you might be having inflammation not edema.
