You could start something like this:
Dear (whoever)
I would like to ask for your help and advice on a matter which is very important to me. I am looking for accommodation for myself and my son/daughter...

I don't know if this fits your situation, but just the general idea. Then you could just explain exactly what you are hoping he will do for you, and finish with something like "I would greatly appreciate your help. Looking forward to hearing from you..."
