    My Rent Is Due On The 1st Of The Month, Isnt There A Five Day Grace Period Before Landlord Can Carge Me Late Fees?When Can My Land Legally Charge For Late Fees?

    I am new to Blurtit and would like to know my legal right as a tenant regarding late fees if rent is due 1st of the month. Isnt there a grace period before myy landlord can charge for late fees!

    You need to read your lease to get that answer.

    The landlord can stipulate the grace period, if any, as he chooses. The lease should also tell you how much the late fee is and if it goes up after so many days.

    If the lease doesn't mention anything about grace periods or late fees then negotiate the stipulations now to forego any misunderstandings in the future.
