I mean, every other politician looks into our eyes. With Obama, it's like he's looking into the heavens. Any ideas why David Axelrod makes sure Obama's teleprompter is in the sky?

This is because if the TelePrompter is down he then must look down which indicates a shame or unworthiness. By placing the TelePrompter above eye-level it reflects that he is confident and forceful thereby projecting a more positive and "Forward-Looking" attitude so people believe that he is such a positive type person. It is merely a magician-type trick.

It could be a vision problem that Obama has, or Axelrod [...what a weird last name] decided that it would be the best position for him. Who knows, maybe Obama can't look America in the eye and lie at the same time. :P I'll look for that the next time I watch the news.

I don't believe my answer was published so here I go again. The people who set up the stage puts the telepromters wherever they think they are needed. I personally have not noticed Mr. Obama looking to the right. I will take more notice the next time he is on.

Every speech I've seen he looks into the crowd like every other politician. I've noticed though that mccain tends to look down low a lot, like he's hiding something.
