Jimmy Carter's wife was Rosalynn Carter or Elenor Rosalynn Smith Carter. She married the President on the 7th of July 1946 and they have four children together. She was the first lady of the United States from the year 1977 to 1981 during President Carter's Presidency.

Rosalynn Carter was born on the 18th of August 1927 in Plains, Georgia in the United States. Her father Edgar Smith was an auto mechanic and a farmer who died when she was just 13 years old. Her Mother was Allethea Murray who Rosalynn helped in raising the rest of her siblings on her father's death. She was the eldest child of the four kids the couple had.

Rosalynn Carter had known jimmy Carter from before. She had also studied at the Plains High School and later at the Georgia South-western College but they started dating in the year 1945.
