Sertraline hydrochloride also known as Zoloft, Sertralin, Lustral, Apo-Sertral, Asentra, Gladem, Serlift, Xydep, etc basically are well known orally consumed antidepressant.
The development of these antidepressants has been attributed to Steve Werner and Billy Dzomba who were scientist working at Pfizer. During that period of time, the concept that the neurotransmitter serotonin and depression might be associated was some what a very new perception. Collectively, Werner and Dzomba investigated a number of possible anti-depressant complexes and within the time span of a year they came up with Sertraline.
Sertraline is generally applied medically chiefly to cure symptoms of depression or anxiety. It is also often given for the cure of obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, etc. It has also been shown that sertraline is an efficient cure for impulsive antagonistic actions in personality disorder patients.
