Actually the word "POLICE" is the abbreviation of following;
P for Polite
O for Obedient
L for Loyal
I for Intelligent
C for Courageous
E for Eager to help

Well Police's main duties are to ensure the process of enforcement of law so that no body should violate the laws and also protects general public from criminal activities. They also investigate about certain events happened against the law to ensure the law and order situation. They also perform other duties such as traffic control and protection of Government officials or Members of National Assemblies.

They are highly trained people to control the law and order situation in the whole society. They also keep track of every criminal activity happened in the society so that they can provide the details to their immediate supervisors. They records can be checked at any time in the future to check out weather the person who have committed any crime have previous criminal record with police or not.

First let me tell you that only 50% of the entire police force of this nation is corrupt. I have been working 25 years investigating police misconduct. The acronyms fo P.O.L.I.C.E are all BALONEY! Half of this nations police force are goons right off the street with no college. Most of society does not have a clue of what goes on. I have seen police get away with homocide, rape, robbery, assault, you name it. And this is in the suburbs of New York.! We need a few more Serpicos in this world!

The word "police" was a verb before it became a noun which, as indicated previously, is plural.  There is a tendency to assume -- or make up -- acronyms for commonly-used terms which is (A) a modern, English (mostly American English) trait and (B) post-dates actual use of the words.  People in the past did not make words out of initials such as the now familiar -- and more recent -- "SCUBA".  Another false acronym is "cop" which is often said means "Chief of Police", but actually comes from late 19th Century "copper" for the large copper buttons worn by policemen.

There is no abbreviation for this word, and did you know that police is also plural in itself? Have a nice day.

As long as I know, the world Police was derived from a Latin word 'politia' which means "civil administration". This Latin word 'politia' was derived from an Ancient Greek work πόλις, for polis which means "city". Although there is no standard abbreviation for POLICE but it can itself be abbreviated as POL like International Police can be written as Intpol. Another group of people believe that word POLICE  is the abbreviation of given words:

P for Polite, O for Obedient, L for Loyal, I for Intelligent, C for Courageous and E for Eager to help. However, the strong evidences show that this word was derived from Latin word and it has no abbreviations.
