Hazel Rollins O'Leary was the Secretary of Energy of the United States during the first term of the Presidency of Bill Clinton. She held the office from the year 1993 to the 1997. She was the only woman and the first one at that to have been the Secretary of Energy. She later resigned from her post in 1997 after Congressional Committees questioned her about the excessive amounts she had been spending on travelling and accommodation.
Hazel O'Leary was born on the 17th of May 1937 in Newport News, Virginia. She studied at the Huntington High School and graduated from the Law School of the Rutgers University. She was also in office as assistant administrator at the Federal Energy Administration under the Administration of President Jimmy Carter.
Janet Reno had been advised by the Director of the FBI Louis Freeh about suspicious donations related to Secretary Hazel but Reno the then Attorney General refused to have them investigated.
