    New zealand is called the youngest country on the planet because it was the last major landmass to be discovered. The settlements on the New Zealand are very recent as compared to settlements on other parts of the world.

      New Zealand was settled by Maoris 850 years ago, the last of all countries in the world to be inhabited. It was then settled by Europeans in 1850.
